Why Join?

Widespread adoption of Ultra High Definition video technologies is a daunting challenge with great rewards for consumers and companies. The Ultra HD Forum is bringing together market leaders from every part of the industry; broadcasters, service providers, consumer electronics, and technology vendors to collaborate on solving the real-world hurdles, and accelerating Ultra HD deployment. Ultra HD video technologies are inclusive of increased resolution, high dynamic range, wide color gamut, high frame rate, and advanced audio. The Ultra HD Forum connects and covers the use cases of live, real-time, episodic, on-demand, broadcast, streaming, download and physical media distribution, and other related technologies. The Ultra HD forum is not a standards organization, however a goal is to help members understand the implications and relevance of various standards, industry groups, and stakeholders. The Ultra HD Forum has been well organized with experienced and committed founders and board of directors that are equipped with effective and efficient bylaws, structure, and workgroup tools to help maximize results. Participation in the Ultra HD Forum will help your company quickly participate in defining and assembling the next ecosystem of video and audio entertainment. The Forum’s goals are to provide the membership with the following:

  • Guidelines

    Developing Guidelines that use best practices for the implementation of end-to-end systems for the generation, distribution and rendering of next generation media including UltraHD, high dynamic range, wide color, high frame rate and other related technologies.

  • Workflows

    Ensuring that the developed Guidelines address the needs of real- time workflows with capture of live content for Live and On Demand distribution through broadcast, multicast and unicast deliveries.

  • SDO

    The Ultra HD Forum is not a Standards Development Organization (SDO) but will facilitate the development, coordination, harmonization and adoption of relevant standards being developed in various media-related standard organizations and consortia, especially across the use cases of live, real-time, episodic, on- demand, broadcast, streaming, download and physical media distribution.

  • No Fragmentation

    Assisting in avoiding fragmentation of Ultra HD and related media standards by promoting the use of common profiles across industry, consortia and various standard organizations.

  • Interoperability

    Facilitating interoperability tests and plug-fests to demonstrate the usability and comprehensiveness of Ultra HD and related media standards. Describe and promote the use of Ultra HD and related media services that meet the scope of the Ultra HD Forum. Be a central repository for relevant Ultra HD and related media workflows.

  • Events

    Organize industry-wide events where Ultra HD and related media applications, deployments, and successes are presented.

  • Best Practices

    The Forum shall work to inform the industry regarding appropriate standards, best industry practices, and enabling technologies through the production of white papers, the organization of informational “Master Classes” at major industry events and the demonstration of end-to-end solutions and proof of concept systems with common content created through diverse workflows.

How to Become a Member?

Below is information on our three membership levels, including downloadable Membership Agreements. Once you decide on the type of membership you would like, please download the correct agreement, sign the agreement and email it back to us info@ultrahdforum.org. We will then contact you about payment and provide you with more details.

Membership year is June 1 – May 31

  • Charter

    June 1 - May 31

    Includes all benefits of a Contributor Member and Associate Member and in addition:

    • The right to nominate and elect representatives for Board of Director positions in accordance with Section 5 of the Bylaws.
    • The right to be listed in all press releases and events of the Corporation.
    • The right to be listed as a Charter member on the Corporation’s website.

    Membership Agreement

    Please Note: Once payment is processed, there will be no refunds issued (and member companies who merge will not receive refunds).

  • Contributor

    June 1 - May 31

    Includes all benefits of an Associate Member and in addition:

    • The right to be listed as a Contributor Member in all press releases of the Corporation.
    • The right to vote in Board of Director elections.
    • The right to be listed as a Contributor Member on the Corporation’s website.
    • The right to participate in the Corporation’s promotional activities such as interoperability workshops or certification programs at Member rates.
    • The right to participate as a voting member of Work Groups.
    • The right to chair or co-chair a Work Group
    • The right to provide feedback on certain Draft Deliverables subject to execution of a Feedback Agreement

    **6 Quarter Option December 1 – May 31 $6,000.00**

    **5 Quarter Option March 1 – May 31 $5,000.00**

    Membership Agreement

    Please Note: Once payment is processed, there will be no refunds issued (and member companies who merge will not receive refunds).

  • Associate

    June 1 - May 31

    Open to all companies with an annual revenue less than $10 million US Dollars per year, academic institutions and sole proprietor consultants

    • The right to be listed as an Associate Member on the Corporation’s website.
    • Associate Member applications will be reviewed by the Board of Directors.
    • The right to participate in the Corporation’s promotional activities such as interoperability workshops or   certification programs at Member rates.
    • The right to provide feedback on certain Draft Deliverables subject to execution of a Feedback Agreement.
    • The right to participate as a voting member of Work Groups.
    • Associate members can not chair or co-chair a Work Group.
    Note: Associate Members are required to submit a letter stating their revenue is less than 10 million US Dollars per year along with their application.
