Fremont, CA – September 30, 2025 – The Ultra HD Forum (UHDF) and the Streaming Video Technology Alliance (SVTA) today confirm plans to integrate their organizations, with the UHDF banner moving under the SVTA umbrella. The union will broaden industry participation in the Forum’s work, expand adoption of the widely referenced UHDF Guidelines for content creation and distribution for both broadcast and streaming worldwide deliveries, and bring new voices to discussions of challenges unique to streaming Ultra HD experiences. This will further strengthen the global tracking of Ultra HD deployments through the Forum’s popular UHD Service Tracker and continue addressing Interoperability throughout the end-to-end media workflows, opening up content services with a common workflow for broadcast and streaming distribution.
Strong Industry Reception at IBC 2025
The announcement follows IBC 2025, where the UHDF hosted a well-attended annual members’ breakfast meeting and welcomed hundreds of visitors to its booth. Attendees explored hands-on demonstrations that showcased AI-enhanced Ultra HD video processing, IP-based production workflows, and next-generation codecs, including VVC. The merger plan was presented to the membership at the breakfast session and was positively received by our broadcast and streaming communities.
Business as Usual: New Publications and Ongoing Work
The UHDF, celebrating its tenth year, continues to publish new resources, most recently two new Executive Summaries now available at ultrahdforum.org/guidelines:
- Brazil’s Next-Gen TV 3.0 Trials on SBDTV Forum’s DTV+ Television System
- Repository File Workflow for UHD and Next Generation Audio
These briefs complement the Forum’s comprehensive Guidelines, now in Version 3.3.1, and demonstrate the Forum’s commitment to supporting real-world UHD deployment. The interactive UHD Service Tracker has also been expanded to cover more than 340 services worldwide.
Looking Ahead
Integration with SVTA will provide an expanded platform to address technical challenges across the entire content distribution chain, from creation through reception via broadcast and streaming delivery. Leveraging SVTA’s large and diverse membership, the UHDF’s expertise in content quality and workflows will help connect previously siloed parts of the industry, supporting the shared mission of delivering the best possible Ultra HD video experiences to viewers worldwide.

“Content today exists in many forms, across resolutions, colour spaces, and dynamic ranges, reflecting both legacy workflows and the evolution of Ultra HD,” said Yasser Syed, President of the Ultra HD Forum. “At IBC 2025, we showcased real-world tools, including AI, that enhance and adapt content for modern delivery workflows and a broad range of viewing platforms.
As we move forward, the challenge is to develop cost-effective workflows that capture content at its highest quality, automate production, and deliver it seamlessly to any screen. Achieving this requires the breadth of expertise that will come together in this soon-to-be-formed, larger organization.”
